“The“The most important thing for me when choosing Independent Driving was having someone who understood my anxiety over not understanding something I was trying to learn.
I found out about independent driving, and in particular Chrissy Hudson through a family friend who had a really good experience with the company and Chrissy. I first started driving when I was 17, but due to personal reasons I struggled fully concentrate and understand it and had a 2 year gap until November 2020 and changed instructor to Chrissy.
She was very warming, lovely and didn't make you feel bad or anxious if you didn't understand something at first (which I had experienced with a previous driving instructor). I felt very confident and prepared for my driving test with Independent driving, having had many lessons lead up to it (especially a 4 hour lesson that significantly helped). Chrissy made me feel more confident, and nothing was ever too much to ask.

Another factor that was really important to me was, when looking online and messaging driving schools, Independent Driving had a very quick response rate, and got me to have my first lesson within the next week.
Learning to drive was a little harder than I expected, I drove around in my own car throughout lockdown with my dad. Then when I got into the car with Matt I expected to have a few issues, but I didn’t realise how some little things could make such a huge difference, and Matt really helped pick out my flaws in driving and helped me perfect them.
I found that Matt had a very easy way of teaching, he was always very calm and always talked me through when I did things wrong, I found his teaching very effective. He gave me little tasks to work on every time I had a lesson, so throughout the week I would work on it in my own car and I found this really helped, along with him mentioning reference points when parking. I would 100% recommend to others, in fact I have already recommended to most of my friends who a few have started lessons with Matt.
