“The main reason I chose Independent Driving was because I had seen people I know go through them and have great success!

I had also seen they did the under 17 driving experience which I liked the idea of. I attended a few of them and I found they helpful to work out your way around the car before you were on the roads.

My instructor Darren was amazing he had great patience with me and always stayed calm, just what you would want your instructor to be like. I felt confident he had prepared me well and had told me and shown me everything I needed to know, not just for my test but for driving in general.

I was so pleased when my examiner had told me I passed, the almost sigh of relief knowing you have done it! I would just say to anyone starting out to stick by it sometimes it seems tougher then other times but you shouldn’t give up.

I would 100% recommend independent driving school to anyone, they have helped me so much. Thanks so much Darren.”

The Main Reason I chose Kelvin White Driving School

“I first found out about Independent Driving School when I had seen it advertised on Facebook, with a few pictures of people passing their test.

The reason that I chose to go with Independent driving is that my parents had done some research, and found out that Independent had some great reviews, and a lot of people got on with the instructors.

This was a big thing for me as I struggle with anxiety so driving seemed like a daunting task at first, but was made possible with the help of Chrissy and Darren who are instructors at the school. My lessons were good to start with as Chrissy took me to quieter locations and talked me through everything, so that I had a good understanding of how to drive the car whilst on these smaller roads.

I swapped instructors from Chrissy to Darren, as Chrissy left for her Maternity leave. Darren helped me to progress my driving on more busy roads and helped me learn new manoeuvres. Darren was very calm, cool and collected when it came to my driving, and if I ever made a mistake he would stay calm and help me to not panic and stay in control of the car.

I would recommend Independent Driving School and my two Instructors Chrissy and Darren to people who are looking to learn to drive, because they were extremely friendly, easy to learn with and talk to, and helped me to be able to pass my Driving Test.

My advice for anyone who is learning to drive is to not feel pressured and listen to what your instructor has to say. Don’t be afraid to make mistakes (easier said than done) but you sometimes need to make mistakes to learn.”

Connor Farrant, Poole

“The main reason I chose Independent Driving School was because Darren was recommended to me by a friend who had learnt to drive with him and I’m really glad they did.

He responded promptly and very quickly we were organising my first two hour lesson. I was pretty nervous my first time driving, as you’d expect, but I very quickly found that I really looked forward to my lessons with Darren.

Darren is an excellent instructor, going through everything first then coaching me through new manoeuvres and situations as we went along. He provided great instructions and pointers, helping me to understand whenever I did something wrong without making me feel stupid. We had great chats as we drove around too and I found him very easy to get along with, I’ve even learnt he is in to particularly embarrassing music (don’t worry, he didn’t make me listen to it).

My advice to anyone learning to drive would definitely be to use Darren and Independent Driving, practice as much as you can and if you fail a test then don’t get too caught up on it, it’s easy to do, just try again until you pass.”

Our structured system will feature a complete plan of action broken down for you so you can see where you are up to with regard to your progress within the driving school syllabus & what you need to do to get to the level where you are ready to take your test.

Our Instructors will issue you with a report card that will detail each step of your progress. It will demonstrate the areas that you might need more practice whilst also showing the things you are particularly strong with.

We do encourage practice with family & friends provided it is used in a way that will assist & improve your driving abilities ready for your next lessons. Ideally you would practice the areas that have been highlighted for you on your report card so to reduce the length of time you need to cover them in your actual lessons.

For example if you are struggling with your three point turn manoeuvre then it would make sense to go somewhere quiet & practice as often as you can whilst out with friends & family. Once you can demonstrate you are able to carry out the procedure confidently & error free then your instructor will then move you on to the next step of the syllabus.

However if your instructor thinks you need more practice you will continue where you left off until you have mastered it. This example demonstrates the importance of using your practice time wisely.

You should ensure that you complete your theory examination as quickly as possible. This will benefit you as it gives you a better understanding of the practical side. It will also allow for your instructor to book you in for your test as soon as you are ready without any unnecessary delays.
